Summer Yukata

I enjoyed lunch with my shiba puppy in a summer kimono.
We went to Wine no Mori which serves good Japanese and Italian cuisine in Sanda Hyogo.
It is near Kobe and you can see beautiful scenery there.
Here in Japan, we can enjoy lunch with our pets.
I love to wear kimono, so sometimes I go out in kimonos.
Today, I dressed up in summer kimono which is made of cotton.
And so as my lovely shiba, Izumin.
You can get cute kimonos for dogs here in Japan.
Girl’s Festival in March

It is Girl’s Festival on March 3rd.
We decorate dolls called OHINASAMA and share the joy of girls’ growing.
Chirashi sushi is a special dish to celebrate the festival.
I make one myself, too.
Acupuncture in Kobe

I got acupuncture on my face.
You may think it’s painful seeing the picture needles on my face, but it is NOT at all.
It was painless treatment and I was so relaxed during the whole treatment.

You can also enjoy this kind of body care treatment not only sightseeing in Japan.

I visited the kennel of Shiba dog In Kashiba city, Nara.
Shiba is Japanese dog.
It’s very friendly and smart.
You can come and hold them.
Sweet Potatoes Wagon

Hello, this is Chiaki, an interpreter.
One of my favorite things in winter is baked sweet potatoes.
It was very cold last night.
I was on the way home from the station.
At that time, I heard the whistle and the voice of “sweet potatoes~”
That whistle means the potato wagon is around.
They bake potatoes in the special oven with the bed of stones on the wagon.
Stones make them so sweet and tasty.
It’s simple and so tasty Japanese winter dish.

It’s a snowy here in Kobe, Kansai.
I like to drive around Mt. Rokko.
There is a lake on the north of Mt. Rokko, and I always enjoy the scenery there.
It was so beautiful with snow today.
Please enjoy the snow lake.
The seven herb rice porridge

Hi, this is Chiaki, the interpreter.
On January 7th, I had the seven herb rice porridge for my lunch.
In Japan, people eat the seven herb rice porridge or ‘nanakusa-gayu’ on the morning of January 7th.
That’s why I had it at the restaurant near my office.
The seven herb rice porridge was introduced from China and then became popular in Japan by Edo period. Its original intention is to protect oneself against evils and invite good luck and longevity by eating the seven herbs that endure the cold winter.
The seven herbs arewater dropwort, shepherd’s purse, cudweed, chickweed, henbit, turnip and daikon radish.
We can buy a bug of them at the supermarket around this time of the year.

Today, I introduce our New Year in Japan.
We have the special dish called Osechi.
Each food has meaning.
Black beans, for exmple, is for doing good job.
Small fish is for being strong, Lotus root gives good vision.
I made osechi by myself. Please check it out.

We meet family members and visit shrines and temples.
We have special dish called OSECHI.
You may see many people wearing traditional cloths, Kimono.
